The nine Old Gotham South Riddler puzzles in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight give you a bit more to chew on than the Tricorner puzzles. Some of them have multiple parts, while others require you to do a bit of environmental sleuthing to figure out what’s what. Like with the Tricorner puzzles, you can complete these at any time, so long as you have the right character. A couple of these require Nightwing, who won’t join until around Chapter Four. Any incomplete Riddler puzzles you find will show up on the map with a lock icon, though, so you can find them again quickly when you’re ready.
This guide covers all Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle locations and how to solve them. We’ve listed them in the order we found them, but you can do them in any order.
In this guide:
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 1
The first puzzle on our list is in the region’s southeastern part, under a walkway. You’re presented with a board that has nine targets on it. Use Batman’s ultraviolet vision to follow a trail and find the correct order to hit them using your Batarang — or just follow the info below.
- 1: Middle
- 2: Upper left
- 3: Upper right
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 2
The next puzzle is a bit to the southwest on a mid-level roof. You’ll see four rotating cogs with arrow-ish icons and, in the middle of them, another cog with a question mark on it. Get Jim Gordon’s foam gun out.
When the arrow (that’s the narrow end on these icons) points at the middle cog, fire a foam blob. You’ll know you got it right when the icon turns green. Then, when the question mark is facing the correct way, with the dot at the bottom, fire a foam blast at that cog. With all arrows pointing the right way and the question mark active, the cage will open.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 3
Head to the northwest of the previous puzzle location and land on the roof with a bunch of Riddler signs on it. Not very subtle. This one’s another UV sight puzzle. Activate Batman’s special vision at the paint can in the middle of the roof, and then look at the symbols above the light indicators on the board to see which order you should pull the levers in.
The order is: 2,1,5,3,4.
To locate and activate each lever, follow the instructions below:
- 2: Located behind the sign. Use the foam gun to extinguish the fire first.
- 1: Located behind and below the sign to the left. Get the lever from a spider web above a shop window.
- 5: Turn away from the riddler cage, and follow the wire to the left.
- 3: This one’s behind the Riddler sign, to the right on a lower ledge.
- 4: Turn away from the Riddler cage, and follow the wire to your right toward the edge of the roof.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 4
You’ll need Nightwing’s ability for this one. There are three generators with currents you need to adjust via turning a crank. One of them is missing a lever, but you’ll find it in the block boxes next to the wheel. Anyway, turn the lever until the green circle on the rotating bar lines up with the green circle on the bottom of the panel to activate the circuit. Repeat the process for all three, and then use Nightwing’s connector ability to light up the last generator.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 5
This one’s next to the fountain with a gargoyle decoration. Pull the lever, then use Batman’s batarang to hit the targets before time runs out. Use your detection vision and follow the wires if you have trouble tracking down the target locations.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 6
A little to the north/northwest of the fountain is where you’ll find this next puzzle. It’s tucked away in a little alcove with steam covering the entrance. Use Batman’s UV vision near the steam vent on the left, and follow the heat signature to a brick wall. Spray an explosive foam sign on it, bust the wall, and turn the steam off.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 7
The next one is on a roof just a tiny bit west of the previous one. You need to move the connectors so the symbol on the wall stops right under the question mark. If you’re having any difficulties, use the image below as a visual aid.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 8
North across the road is another puzzle that requires Nightwing. You need to power several generators to open the cage door, so scour the rooftop for the batteries you initially need. One is in the busted dish above you, and there’s another on the side of the wall below the dish. Power the elevator and slot that battery in, and then glide across the roof opposite the Riddler cage. Use Nightwing’s ability to slide the last battery into place.
Old Gotham South Riddler puzzle 9
Head southwest toward the next puzzle, which is also on a rooftop and also involves batteries. Use Gordon’s foam gun to stop the water, then grab the battery and put it in one of the generators. Charge the next battery and, once it’s full, slot it in the other generator to get the collectible.
