Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire is the current #40 on the PC Gamer Top 100 and one of my personal favourite RPGs of all time. Somehow, though, it does have its detractors. Most notably, a vocal contingent who felt that the game’s ending didn’t live up to their expectations (spoilers for Deadfire follow).Deadfire’s plot revolves around the reawakening of the only-mostly-dead god Eothas and your quest to stop him from doing whatever mad, damaging, irreversible thing it is he’s set his mind on doing. But bad luck, because he’s a god and you’re just a (admittedly powerful) guy. When it…

In a move that will be hugely disappointing to a lot of PC gamers, Valve has pushed back the “estimated order windows” for Steam Controller reservations to at least September, with some prospective buyers even seeing their estimated order date delayed until 2027. In a new post on its website, Valve has admitted that “initial demand exceeded our expectations” and that in order to “manage expectations as much as we can” it has implemented this new system with these long estimated delivery times. Valve’s new system means that if you sign up for a spot in the Stream Controller order…

It took all of one day for Marvel Rivals to enrage players after the release of season 9 with a new, unasked for, and slightly confusing patch. It buffed tons of heroes some of which in no way needed a helping hand.”Our temporal scanners have been working overtime, analyzing battlefield telemetry and listening to chatter from you, the community,” a blog post explains. “We’ve seen the meta shifting, and to ensure the combat arena remains as dynamic and competitive as possible, we are deploying this emergency hotfix. Rest assured, our Watchers will remain vigilant, and further recalibrations will be made…

In case you haven’t heard, Sony recently announced that it will stop producing physical game discs come 2028—a move PC Gamer’s Wes Fenlon argued continues a trend of consoles turning into little more than worse PCs. But Daniel Ahmad, a videogame market analyst and director of research and insights at Niko Partners, argued in a post on X that we’ve all done this song and dance before (thanks, Gamesradar).”[It’s] like Apple removing the CD Drive from its laptops starting in 2008,” Ahmad said in the post. “There were definitely a high number of complaints at the time, but not a…

Edward Chester is Manchester Atlantic’s hardware editor. He writes the site’s hardware news, reviews, and guides. Published: June 20, 2026 Verdict If you’re after the best overall VR headset image quality, the Pimax Dream Air delivers. Its twin 3,840 x 3,552 OLED panels are incredibly sharp and deliver all the contrast, deep blacks, and vividness you’d expect from OLED. The view through its optics is very finely dependent on the fit of the face foam, though, so there’s a chance you might not get on with this headset, which is a shame considering its very high price. Pros Incredibly sharp…

Published: June 23, 2026 Verdict While the Gamesir G7 Pro is far from a truly budget game controller, its sub-$80 price is amazing value for the amount of features this controller offers. It’s also well-built, if not quite on par with truly premium controllers that pack in similar numbers of features. However, it’s also half the price of those options. Pros Quality TMR thumbsticks Excellent value for money Premium build quality Loads of features, including a charging dock Cons Wired connection required on Xbox…

Published: July 7, 2026 Verdict A massively inflated price right now is in some ways the least of the Steam Machine’s worries, as its meagre performance and TV/controller-focused gameplay means it has plenty of other limitations too. It’s a fantastic bit of hardware with some great features, but its appeal is going to be very niche. Pros Fantastic hardware design Runs cool and quiet SteamOS interface is fantastic on a TV Performance is good enough for 1080p gaming Cons Advertised 4K gaming often doesn’t…

Sony’s headphones come with some neat hardware designed for its own specially implemented spatial audio system. But on PC, that hardware often goes unused. That is, until now.As posted to Reddit by user NSlattery43, you can now use the motion sensors in the likes of the Sony WH-1000XM5, WF-1000XM5, and ULT Wear headphones for head tracking in games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, Elite Dangerous, and Assetto Corsa.Slattery made their own open-source software and posted it to GitHub, which means you can not only use it entirely for free but also build on it in new ways or fine-tune it. The Steam Machine is almost here. Valve has finally announced the price of their latest hardware release, with the interest list for purchasing one of the four options available open until June 25. Valve has sent review models to journalists around the world, and while some are fans of the Steam Machine, they all share the same opinion: It’s very expensive. The base 512GB model of the Steam Machine costs $1,049, while the 2TB version comes in at $1,428. Neither of those comes with a controller, so you’ll need to add an extra $69 if you want one of those,…
