The promised Genshin Impact To Snezhnaya and the Future presentation is live, and in it HoYoVerse also shared the release date for the version update that will add the new region. That will launch on August 12, 2026. It featured developers like R&D Engineer Xiaodan and Combat Designer Aquaria explaining some initial details about the location and its gameplay elements. It also included the “Snezhnaya20260812” Redemption Code to use in-game for 200 Primogems.
Initially, things started with a quick summary of things we know about Snezhnaya in Genshin Impact. Namely that it is the Cryo nation, which means it’s a snowy region, with Fatui leader and Cryo Archon Tsaritsa living there. It’s also the hub for the Adventurer’s Guild whose services and quests we’ve been taking in-game for years. From there, we learned about developers’ first impressions and initial details. We saw a large train heading to a snowy city. We also saw a number of the Fatui Harbingers who showed up long the way and acted as both allies and enemies.
From there, both Aquaria and Xiaodan explained how perceptions changed. Aquaria mentioned while it seemed antagonistic and dark, it’s a region “on its own path of defiance against fate.” In that same part of the video, the developer noted, “Snezhnaya stands at the very forefront of the struggle against fate, the most proactive and the most resolute of them all.” Xiaodan also mentioned how the Fatui and nation is trying to “defy the Heavenly Principles and Fate.” After that, he also mentioned how the Frostmoon Scions’ Hymns of the Far North from Nod-Krai brought up things like Angels, Descenders, and Heavenly Principles, and we’ll learn more about them when we get to the new region. Especially since that region has all the Gnoses now.
Another part involves how critical trains are to Snezhnaya. Aquaria brings up how they could become a moving camp or a theater. And Xiaodan said that on this map, the operating scales for the trains and carriages means they’re “more than just a means of transportation.” He mentioned how the aquabus in Fontaine were less intricate, and the trains will be more detailed and realistic, interacting with the environment in different ways.
Likewise, the video went over how Cryo will be handled. Xiaodan mentioned how the team will explore the element more. He also mentioned how its nature for storing things could involve storing things like energy or information. It will also “destroy, shatter, and even reshape the battlefield terrain.”
As for characters, a few were teased. One is the Hexenzirkel member Andersdotter, who is known previously as M. The suggestion also comes up that characters and gameplay will be designed to more clearly show people’s personality through their actions and as we play.
