We’re entering into a season of spooky farming sims this summer, with games like Moonlight Peaks joining others such as Grave Seasons and Village in the Shade. This one, however, actually casts players as vampires moving into a town with other supernatural and magically gifted beings. To better understand what sets this apart and what to expect, Siliconera caught up with Little Chicken CEO and Moonlight Peaks Director Yannis Bolman to discuss the upcoming life sim. How did existing games farming life sims, such as Story of Seasons, Stardew Valley, and Sun Haven shape Moonlight Peaks? Yannis Bolman: We looked…
A glance at Wax Heads might make someone think it’s about assisting customers at a record store, but it’s not just some shop management simulation. It’s an investigation! Everyone wants something, but what? They may not even know! It’s up to us to pick up on contextual clues to work everything out. Though, thanks to the nature of the game, it could be as demanding or forgiving as we want based on the accessibility options we choose. Wax Heads puts us into the shoes of the newest employee at Repeater, a record store owned by former rocker Morgan. After her…
Bringing up things like market conditions, Nintendo explained the prices for the Switch and Switch 2 consoles will go up worldwide and in Japan the costs for its Hanafuda cards and playing cards will go up. These increases take effect in the US and Canada on September 1, 2026, so prices remain the same at retailers like Amazon for now. Nintendo Switch Online prices will also be affected, but so far only in Japan. These moves could be considered a result of things like AI causing the RAM memory shortage, President Donald Trump’s global tariffs, and shipping rate costs as…
We’ve seen Ys Memoire: Revelations in Celceta quite a few times ahead of its Switch debut! It’s been on the Vita, PS4, and PC worldwide, starting with that initial 2012 handheld release ahead of other versions trickling out over the years. That’s even before accounting for different versions of this fourth entry and events in Celceta in Ys IV: Dawn of Ys on the PC Engine and Ys IV: Mask of the Sun on the Super Famicom and PS2. So what makes this version special? Honestly, it feels like it’s more about accessibility this time around, as there aren’t any…
Inti Creates games usually feel like they have at least one saving grace that makes even the middling experiences feel interesting. Dragon Marked for Death doesn’t feel tedious when you play with other people. Umbraclaw features some cool character designs. With Kingdom’s Return: Time-Eating Fruit and the Ancient Monster, I can’t point to an element that makes it feel worthwhile. It looks okay. I guess building up the kingdom to increase stats and our heroes’ capability helps. Combat can end up entertaining once you invest in someone enough. But the thing is, nothing stands out or feels special. Instead, I…
With spring rolling in and chasing away the bitter cold of winter, there’s no better time than now for cozy games such as Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth. Clocking in at around five and a half hours, it’s a charming adventure (with some surprisingly dark turns) for a weekend or a few weeknights. Moomintroll: Winter’s Warmth is heavily based on Moominland Midwinter, taking familiar beats from and following the plot of the book while putting its own spin on things. As you may or may not know, the Moomin species hibernates. Unfortunately for our dear Moomintroll, he wakes up in the dead…
Poncle got its hooks into me again. I wasn’t sure it would happen. Vampire Survivors sort of feels like a lightning in a bottle kind of game in retrospect. But here we are, and Vampire Crawlers: The Turbo Wildcard from Vampire Survivors is just addictive and satisfying as the original game for different reasons. It’s excellent, with the spin-off referencing the first title in ways that make sense in terms of gameplay and can be quite clever. At the same time, I’m also surprised and delighted by how Poncle and Nosebleed Interactive pulled influences from classic, first-person dungeon-crawlers like Wizardry…
Image via Bandai Namco, Shueisha, and Toei The latest Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour took place the weekend of April 18-19, 2026, and it involved new Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and 3 reveals, Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC, and a Dragon Ball Sparking Zero expansion. The new content starts rolling out as soon as April 22, 2026. However, the only anime update involved a trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus. To make things easier, here are all the new game and anime announcements that came up during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 in a list. Dragon Ball FighterZ is…
The Tomodachi Life series always offered a great range of customization and control in each game, with the simulation letting you use the Mii editor to play around with the little inhabitants of islands and shape their lives. The thing is, I always felt like Tomodachi Life on the 3DS almost felt more like an updated version of Tomodachi Collection for the DS. With Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, it feels like Nintendo put together this massive upgrade with extensive customization options that really let us go overboard with making our island, Miis, and things around them our own. So…
When I heard about A Storied Life: Tabitha, I hoped for a game that would involve the packing elements of Unpacking and the freedom of a visual novel. What I ended up with was a Mad Libs style adventure that restricts creative freedom and can result in a nonsensical memoir. It is a novel puzzle game, but it’s more about searching for specific routes tied to certain themes than getting creative with the possible story. It is fine, but you need to know its boundaries going into it. A Storied Life: Tabitha is the story of the recently deceased Tabitha…
