Back when Panic’s Playdate handheld launched, Ratcheteer ended up being one of its launch window games. Now under four years later, this little The Legend of Zelda like title is back as Ratcheteer DX. It’s still a solid game, just more accessible to a wider audience, and the new design choices ensure it still pays tribute to those early Game Boy and Game Boy Color action-RPGs.  Ratcheteer DX takes place in a world in which people live in colonies, and our avatar is a rookie who helps maintain the machines for it. However, something’s tampering with the mechanisms keeping people…

Bootstrap Island exits Early Access as a fully realized VR survival adventure that stands up to any top game in the genre.I openly admit when I played Bootstrap Island in Early Access over a year ago, I wrote it off as a single-mechanic glorified tech demo without much staying power beyond chasing leaderboards for ‘the most nights survived.’ I admit this to kick off this 1.0 release review because Maru VR’s work should be commended. This is a prime example of how to use Early Access correctly. The FactsWhat is it?: A tropical island survival gamePlatforms: Steam (a PlayStation VR2 port…

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection didn’t “wow” me. Its story is adequately entertaining, its combat is sometimes tedious, and I wouldn’t consider it a “must-play” role-playing game. Still, my time playing was pleasant more often than not, and I was glad to revisit the Monster Hunter universe just over a year after completing Monster Hunter Wilds. Twisted Reflection’s greatest achievement is gifting the series with a gorgeous facelift and bringing it to modern consoles. Even though its monsters’ fire breath didn’t quite blow me away, the flames were a treat to watch. In Twisted Reflection, you portray the prince…

WWE 2K26 doesn’t make the most compelling case for long-time players to upgrade. Sure, the roster has ballooned, its presentation is stronger than ever, and there are small improvements in some areas. But the subtle gameplay tweaks are neither exciting nor overtly perceptible, and certain modes take unwelcome steps backwards.Describing annual sports games as “more of the same with a few tweaks” is boring and not entirely helpful, but WWE 2K26 fits that description more than any recent entry. The usual modes are present, and existing fans can pick up and play the game with minimal new onboarding lessons. While…

Little Nightmares 3 is the latest installment in the fan-favorite Little Nightmares franchise. As someone who’s played every game in the series and is quite fond of them, I had a lot of expectations going into it. While the game retains many of the elements that make the series so great, it also loses much of its flair and novelty, and one could wonder whether the developer shift from Tarsier Studios to Supermassive Games is to blame. An Familiar But Underwhelming Narrative Little Nightmares 3 follows two friends and new characters to the series, Low and Alone, in a mysterious,…

When it came to the first two Monster Hunter Stories games, I always felt like they seemed like the sorts of stories you’d see in shonen manga or anime with something of a Pokemon collectible creature element. Yes, characters stayed viable for longer. But it always seemed to be about a beginner journeying, finding new Monstie friends, and ending up the very best. With Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection the tone is far different and the execution makes early-game creatures feel even more viable, resulting in a spin-off that feels much more like a traditional JRPG. Especially since the…

Fixer Undercover is a terrific escape room adventure limited only by your tolerance for jank. Are you a fan of the I Expect You To Die trilogy, but always wish you could get up and walk around the room to figure out what to do? That’s Fixer Undercover in a nutshell, an escape room spy thriller using handyman tools (a wrench, hammer, pliers, electric drill, and grinder) along with whatever happens to be in the room to get to the next room. Fixer Undercover adds full artificial locomotion to IEYTD’s established formula and the ability to move around and get more…

Planet of Lana 2 reviewDespite a few underdeveloped ideas, Planet of Lana 2 is a bigger, smarter, and even better-looking puzzle-platformer than the charming original. Developer: Wishfully Publisher: Thunderful Publishing Release: March 5th 2026 On: Windows From: Steam, PC Game Pass Price: TBC Reviewed on: Intel Core i9-10900K, 32GB RAM, Nvidia RTX 3090, Windows 10; Steam Deck OLED The original Planet of Lana proposed a science fiction fantasy that appealed on two levels: one, being able to adventure through a wondrously lush exoworld, and two, having a cat who actually listens to you. Planet of Lana 2 is more of…

Scott Pilgrim EX represents a reunion of sorts for developer Tribute Games. Members of the team worked on 2010’s Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game at Ubisoft and later formed the current studio that developed the well-regarded Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge and Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Tribute has become skilled at creating visually nostalgic beat ‘em ups, and its return to the Scott Pilgrim franchise is no exception. It is, however, light on surprises or mechanical innovation.Watch Our Scott Pilgrim EX Review:  This entry in the Scott Pilgrim canon takes place at some amorphous time that may or may…
