If you know me at all, you know my favorite horror icon of all time is Michael Myers, his first appearance – 1978’s Halloween – being my favorite horror movie, too. With hundreds of hours played in IllFonic’s ill-fated Friday the 13th: The Game, which launched in 2017, I have been devoutly awaiting the day this studio tackles Halloween. It is the natural next step, and though I had to wait nearly a decade and play other (great) IllFonic asymmetric multiplayer titles during the wait, the time has come. And with Halloween set to launch this September, it will arrive…

1 Damage Dealer sync pairs tier list The main focus of judging Sync Pairs in this tier list will be mostly on their damage-dealing capabilities. Most of the Sync Pairs here have striking abilities that help them deal more damage. Of course, some exceptions exist, like the Steven & Deoxys (Attack Forme) Sync Pair that can also boost the critical hit rate of all allies. However, that’s just an added bonus to their already high damage multipliers and potential value. Some of the most notable damage dealers are going to be Red & Pikachu, Lucas & Dialga, and Steven &…

According to Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics on LinkedIn, The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered allegedly sold 1.1 million copies on PlayStation 5. Additionally, Elliott revealed that Gears of War: Reloaded sold only 572,000 units on the same platform. Alinea claims that Game Pass significantly impacted the game’s sales, with 1.6 million players accessing it through the service. This isn’t entirely surprising, as the game and its various versions have been available for quite some time.   The game’s details: Nearly 20 years after The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shaped the RPG genre, it is time again to turn the…

Of all of the games that launched in 2019, Code Vein was certainly one of them. It received a mostly tepid reaction (including a 6.5/10 review score from us), so I don’t think many will mind that Code Vein II offers a clean slate. It features a standalone story largely disconnected from the events of the original while introducing new gameplay mechanics designed to soften the Soulslike genre’s inherent difficulty. After playing a few hours of the game during a recent event, I’m still not sure if Code Vein II will catapult the series into the highest echelon of Soulslikes.…

Trailblazer tells the story of automotive pioneer Bertha Benz. We tried out the VR experience. Last week saw the release of Trailblazer on Meta Quest—a new VR experience from Singer Studios, the same team behind The Pirate Queen, which we also wrote about. With both projects, Singer Studios continues its focus on remarkable women whose stories have been largely overlooked. But where The Pirate Queen delivered a two-hour adventure and introduced various game mechanics, Trailblazer is a…

Sometimes all you need are clean, clear visuals that paint a narrative for you to follow. In that sense, the pictures form words in your mind, which you use to make sense of everything, but it’s nice to return to the words themselves. Reading lets us create our own images and details that…

November 2024 proved to be a challenging month for the UK video game industry, with sales figures highlighting significant declines compared to the previous year. Data from GSD reveals that just over three million video games were sold throughout the month—a dramatic 33% drop year-on-year. However, the numbers come with important context that helps explain the downturn. The most notable factor impacting this year’s November performance is the absence of a major game release comparable to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, which launched in November 2023. This year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 hit shelves earlier in October,…
