Edward Kenway’s Mayan armor – formally known as the Mayan Outfit – was a classic costume in the original 2013 release of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Despite lacking a hood, it looked impressive, deflected bullets, and required an elaborate hunt across the in-game map to unlock.
This Legendary Outfit returns in Black Flag Resynced, though like many other changes between this remaster and the original game, it’s slightly different. (Alas, there’s still no hood.) Since Black Flag Resynced’s armors are purely cosmetic, the Mayan Outfit’s old powers have been given to the Yax Tun Pendant, a Legendary Trinket that comes bundled with the armor when you find it.
Despite this difference, the method of obtaining these ancient Mayan relics for Edward remains consistent between both Black Flag Resynced and its forebear. In this guide, we’ll explain everything you need to do to get the Mayan Outfit in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, and we’ll also provide a list of all Mayan Stelae and their puzzle solutions.

How to get the Mayan Outfit and Yax Tun Pendant
To get the Mayan Outfit and Yax Tun Pendant, you need to complete the Mayan Mysteries side quest, which automatically begins during This Old Cove, a mission in Sequence 4.
This quest involves finding several Mayan Stelae scattered around the Caribbean. Each stele marks the location of a stone that can fit into a Mayan Temple door in Tulum, and after climbing these ancient stone markers, Edward has to solve a puzzle and match symbols with features of the environment. When the puzzle is solved, the stone’s buried location will be revealed.
Once you’ve got all of the stones, the Tulum temple door can be opened. You’ll navigate a complex that ends in a vault containing not only the Mayan Outfit, but also the Yax Tun Pendant.
All Mayan Stelae locations
There are 16 Mayan Stelae in total, including the first one that you receive automatically. You can track them all in the interactive map below.
Refer to the following table for a more detailed list of all Mayan Stelae and their coordinates. We’ve included a handy checklist system to help you keep track of all of these markers, as well as descriptions and screenshots of each stele’s associated puzzle.
This list is organised in the order that I found each stele, but you can find them in whichever order you wish, with the exception of the Mayan Stelae on Isla Providencia and Long Bay, which are locations locked behind main story missions.

Great Inagua Mayan Stele
This is the first stele, and you’ll encounter it automatically in Great Inagua when James Kidd takes Edward aside and starts the Mayan Mysteries side quest. Simply rotate the symbols so that they match the rock formations, and note that the circle goes under the pillar with the square platform atop it.

Cape Bonavista Mayan Stele
Rotate the symbols until the three circles encircle the pillars, with the line pointing to the slightly elevated grass outcropping. Keep in mind that even though you start the game in Cape Bonavista, you can’t do anything with this stele until the Mayan Mysteries side quest begins.

Matanzas Mayan Stele
This stele can be found in the southeast corner of Matanzas, near the waterfall. Rotate until the boulders on the ground in front of you and the tree are all encircled. (This one’s a bit tricky if you fail to take the tree into account.)

Tortuga Mayan Stele
Search the northern beach of Tortuga to find this one. It’s close to the canoe and requires you to rotate the symbols so that they form a backwards L shape. Ignore the rightmost rock.

Misteriosa Mayan Stele
Head to the southwestern beach of Misteriosa to find this stele, which is a unique one. It involves matching the symbols to a wall rather than the ground. Encircle the centre and right faces and the structure above them.

Misteriosa 2 Mayan Stele
You can find this stele on the upper level of the Mayan temple in the north of Misteriosa, overlooking the docks and shore. Rotate the circles until you encircle the three large boulders on the beach below you.

New Bone Mayan Stele
This one can be found past the soldiers in the northwestern section of New Bone. The rotation is pretty easy, as the four rectangles are a giveaway that you need to match them with the four white stones on the ground.

Santanillas Mayan Stele
Look behind the large rocks to find this stele on Santanillas’ northern side. Match the circles to the three pillars, and you’re done.

Sacrifice Island Mayan Stele
This one’s hard to miss; it’s in the centre of the island atop some stairs. Rotate until all the circular ends of the triangle encircle the rocks in front of you.

Pinos Isle Mayan Stele
This stele is located high above a massive Mayan ruin complex. There are several circular symbols that you need to rotate to match five pillars beneath you. If you’re having trouble, match the rectangle to the fallen pillar on the ground first, and the rest should fall into place.

Pinos Isle 2 Mayan Stele
This one overlooks the ruins near the docks. Rotate the symbols until the rectangle matches the rectangular fallen pillar, and the circles encircle the nearby stones.

Tulum Mayan Stele
From the Viewpoint, head south. Go up the large staircase, and you can find the Mayan Stele at the top. Rotate the circles until they’re on the pillars, and you’ve done it.
